Mutiny in Heaven conta a história da ascensão, pico e colapso dos The Birthday Party, banda fundada por Nick Cave e Rowland S. Howard no final dos anos 1970. O realizador Ian White recolheu inúmeros materiais de arquivo (registos raros das atuações da banda, faixas inéditas, filmagens de estúdio e outros documentos) e juntou-lhe entrevistas exclusivas aos protagonistas desta banda pós-punk australiana que durou pouco mais de cinco anos. Uma viagem retrospetiva às origens, sonhos, esperanças e motivações de um conjunto de jovens promessas que fez do palco um território de libertação onde a violência era uma forma de expiação.

Mutiny in Heaven tells the story of the rise, peak and collapse of The Birthday Party, the band founded by Nick Cave and Rowland S. Howard in the late 1970s. Director Ian White collected countless archive materials (rare recordings of the band's performances, unreleased tracks, studio footage and other documents) and added exclusive interviews with the protagonists of this Australian post-punk band that lasted just over five years. A retrospective journey into the origins, dreams, hopes and motivations of a group of promising youngsters who turned the stage into a territory of liberation where violence was a form of atonement.
