Brief Introduction
Genuine Lightness is a practice integrated from my latest project - Ikat Tepi. My research explores the characteristic and proposition between the Diabolo, Sticks and String when one of these elements is replaced by a balloon. Revisiting familiarities with a curious mind and bursting into laughter in unexpected moments. In the context of this shared practice, I will be asking the question: How do my research process and materials relate to different bodies? Perhaps the answer is in the floating balloons, or by tossing a Diabolo to the infinite sky. — Alvin Yong
I’m a circus artist and street performer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Diabolo has been my core practice for over 15 years. From actively engaged in performances and competitions, to fulfilling a dream of becoming a street performer in Taiwan. Later, my journey evolved to contemporary circus through Cyr wheel. In Portugal, I gained artistic experience and professional training at INAC and Oficina Zero. My current work includes the solo Soul to Show and the Cyr wheel duo Rima, which premiered in Serralves em Festa 2025. — Alvin Yong
