Breve Introdução

Na Espanha rural dos anos 80, Philippe, um rapaz francês de dez anos, viaja de caravana com os pais, Marie, grávida, e Tomás, um imigrante espanhol que decidiu regressar à aldeia onde cresceu para apresentar o filho às suas raízes. Uma avaria obriga a família a parar numa velha oficina nos arredores de uma povoação deserta, onde conhecem Alicia e Miguel, um casal marcado pelo desaparecimento do filho Gabriel. Enquanto Miguel é consumido pela culpa da noite trágica em que o seu alcoolismo deixou o filho desprotegido, Alicia parece negar aquilo que se passou, vivendo congelada no tempo. O encontro entre as duas famílias desencadeia uma viagem sem retorno ao lado mais sombrio do ser humano, num thriller rural (reminiscente do filme de 2023, “La Espera” de F. Javier Gutiérrez) onde a culpa, o luto e a superstição se confundem sob o sol implacável do interior da Espanha.
In rural Spain in the 1980s, Philippe, a ten-year-old French boy, travels by caravan with his parents, Marie, who is pregnant, and Tomás, a Spanish immigrant who has decided to return to the village where he grew up to introduce his son to his roots. A breakdown forces the family to stop at an old repair shop on the outskirts of a deserted village, where they meet Alicia and Miguel, a couple haunted by the disappearance of their son Gabriel. While Miguel is consumed by guilt over the tragic night when his alcoholism left his son unprotected, Alicia seems to deny what happened, frozen in time. The encounter between the two families sets in motion a one-way journey into the darkest side of human nature, in a rural thriller reminiscent of F. Javier Gutiérrez’s 2023 film “The Wait”, where guilt, grief and superstition become entangled beneath the relentless sun of inland Spain.
