Após a morte da mãe de Szilva, ela refugia-se nos seus sonhos, até ao dia em que conhece uma velha bruxa chamada Baga. A bruxa acolhe a rapariga, encarregando-a de guardar o fogo vivificante durante a noite. Juntas, exploram os sonhos da bruxa durante o dia e, no final, ambas encontram a aceitação: a rapariga amadurece até à idade adulta, enquanto a bruxa aceita a sua mortalidade.
After the death of Szilva's mother, she escapes into her dreams, until the day she meets an old witch named Baga. The witch takes the gir, tasking her with guarding the life-giving fire at night. Together, they explore the witch's dreams during the day, and in the end, both find acceptance: the girl matures into adulthood, while the witch embraces her mortality.

«The Pool or Death of a Goldfish» é uma história sobre uma relação possessiva entre uma mãe e a sua filha. A protagonista, através da raiva não expressa e da rebelião contra a mãe, transforma-se no peixe dourado do título. Palavras não ditas, gestos e emoções infantis reprimidas manifestam-se num tratamento severo tanto para consigo mesma como para com os outros. O filme é enquadrado por uma estrutura narrativa em que a protagonista finalmente se permite sentir o luto, entrando assim num processo de autoaceitação e perdão.
"The Pool or Death of a Goldfish” is a story about a possessive relationship between a mother and her daughter. The main character, through unexpressed anger and rebellion against her mother, transforms into a titular goldfish. Unspoken words, gestures, and repressed childhood emotions manifest in harsh treatment of both herself and others. The film is framed by a compositional structure in which the main character finally allows herself to feel grief, thereby entering a process of self-acceptance and forgiveness.
